National Theatre Connections Explore Sessions – November 2026
This is a long term project, which require regular commitment. We will be rehearsing a play commissioned by the National Theatre and performing it in April at the Southwark Playhouse Borough.
The 4 sessions in November will give us a chance to explore the themes and characters in the play. We will cast the show over Christmas and start rehearsing the script from January.
Participation in the Explore sessions does not guarantee you a spot in the show.
Dates: Wednesday evenings 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th November
Times: 6pm – 8pm
Location: The City Academy, Homerton Row, London E9 6EA
SIGN UP: contact julia@hackneyshed.org.uk
Dates From January 2027 – if you have a role in the show: Wednesday from Jan-April + 2 full day rehearsals over Feb Half term and 1 full day rehearsals over Easter Break. Performances will be in the first week of April.
THE PLAY:
Wildfire follows a group of teenagers whose lives are turned upside down when a fast-moving wildfire tears through their village.
Told by a chorus, the play explores what it feels like to lose your home, find strength in your community, and realise that young people have the power to make a difference.
With humour, honesty and hope, Wildfire takes on the fear, frustration and anger of the climate crisis — and asks what we can do when the world around us starts to change.
